I have learned that its a bit more easy to write an essay with knowing that you don't have objectives you have to cover through out the essay. Being more free to write the essay still in format, but how I like is much easier. I will find more quotes and possibly buy my own copy of the book so that I can highlight,underline, write in the book myself so I have note all through out the book making it that much easier to find quotes and examples.

I think in the beginning it seemed more difficult, because I didn't know what I would write about and how I could connect the different reading with each other. But the worksheets helped me a lot and were a good guideline to find a thesis statement. All in all, I think it is easier to write the paragraphs first and than come up with a thesis, than the other way round. I think it is easier to write when you can choose the number of paragraphs you want to write, because you don't have to stretch or compress what you want to write.
ReplyDeleteI thought this writing process was easier than ones before. It gave me alittle more freedom and allowed me to take my own approach at the paper. I like my final product because I feel that I did it all on my own and that I wasnt writing off a checklist. The process was different with getting quotes first and then changing that into your thesis but it was a fun and different way at starting your paper. Also the worksheets helped alot as I was writing. They were nice to go back to. Steven
ReplyDeleteThe process of writing this essay with out a structure, i felt, was harder than when the outline is given to us. Although, I feel writing this way gives us more freedom to write better about something that could be interpreted many different ways instead of just one way to write it. I did like how we started by finding the quotes and then writing the paper, i felt it was much easier that way. Writing this way improved my writing and analytical skills because it was stretching the way i used to write and preparing us for the future or college where the topic and format are not given to be followed. -Heather Sisk
ReplyDeleteIt was easier to write this paper because it was my decision of what I wrote about and it felt easier writing about something I wanted to write about and had the most knowledge about compared to being told what to write about. I feel like the final product is stronger because I wrote about things that I completely understood instead of having to figure things out along the way. The process of finding quotes and explaining them made the writing the paper extremely easy and smooth because you just needed to write little bits to connect quotes and explain because most of the paper was already written down on the analysis sheets we did.
ReplyDeleteI've learned how to break up the different parts of the paper and work on each part separately and then to put it all together to create a paper. It has been different because we weren’t told what our thesis would be, he had to write our own. For me it was easier to start with the passages from the text and thinking about the different topics I could write on. It was helpful to have those three sheets to do before writing our papers because all of the passages that were going into the paper were already talked about. It made writing the paper easier because you didn’t have to do as much work since you had already done the other sheets. Next time I write a paper I am going to write it with the same techniques since it spilt everything up and it was written with more time and thoughtfulness.
ReplyDeletethis essay has shown the unique qualities in the similiar and different viewpoints of Into the Wild. The thesis is always a strong beginning and entitles the reader to be drawn in to interesting and unique situations. As a reader, I think that I have looked more closely at some of the passages that I have come across. as a writer, I think that going in deeper with subtopic and topic ideas and also being more general with the statements. I will approach the next assignment by planning out a web of ideas to help with certain responses and ideas to build
ReplyDeleteIt was easier to organize my thoughts by starting from the body of the essay rather than the beginning. It also made the essay develop quicker and gave it a better sense of direction.
ReplyDeleteI thought that the writing process made the essay a fairly easy thing to do, however taking out important passages while reading made the reading much less interesting and took a lot more time than just reading the book and then writing an essay. This process let me understand and figure out possible ways to help myself read and understand the material.
ReplyDeleteI thought that the way that the day of editing greatly enhanced my essay. It showed me that I still had a lot of incorrect work that need touching up.
ReplyDeleteI really liked how this paper was presented. I liked how we started the paper by being given the quotes and didn't have a certain way we had to start the paper. We were able to write this paper our own way, which showed me that I was capable of writing a paper on my own.
ReplyDeleteI thought that this paper thoroughly reflected my understanding of Into the Wild. However, i think that we spent too much time reading the book and writing this paper as a unit. BUT- i thought the writing process was well organized and easy to follow.
ReplyDeleteThis process was better because it was less restricting then others that I have used in the past. This allowed for a free flow of ideas with out being blocked by the restrictions of subject matter. Although I fell behind on the note talking process I still noticed how that would help in my paper writing.
